Guide · FedEx money-back guarantee

How to claim the FedEx money-back guarantee

FedEx's money-back guarantee covers express services (and has covered others at various times): deliver late, refund the shipping charge. Like UPS, FedEx pays out only when the shipper files — and the deadline is tight: claims generally must be submitted within 15 days of the invoice date. At any real shipping volume, some percentage of your packages are late every single week, which means uncollected refund money on every single invoice.

What qualifies

Guaranteed services delivered later than the published commitment time, without a carrier-declared exception (weather and similar events void the guarantee). Check current guarantee status by service on fedex.com — FedEx suspended and selectively reinstated guarantees in recent years, so service-level status matters.

How to file

Two routes: dispute the charge in FedEx Billing Online (fastest at volume), or call 1-800-622-1147 with the tracking number and delivery details. Approved refunds appear as credits on a later invoice — check that they actually land, because a filed claim is not a credited claim.

What late deliveries are only part of

The same invoice usually hides other refundable charges: duplicate billing on a single tracking number, labels that were created and billed but never shipped, residential surcharges applied to commercial addresses, and address correction fees for addresses that were correct. Each is disputable through the same billing portal.
